Do any of these events ring a bell to you: Orientation Week, Open Day, Academic Advice Day, Destination Melbourne? Or how about the First Year at Melbourne Facebook page, or the First_year@UniMelb blog?

Well, these awesome things are brought to you by the Transition and Orientation team! And I don’t think they receive nearly enough credit for their work!

I was absolutely shattered to hear that Transition and Orientation will be no longer. As one of their gazillion volunteers, these guys are a solid team and they’re just amazing!

So this is a very, very big thank you to Kathryn Boin, Ron Baird and Simone Thorpe, and to all the other staff from T&O! O’week, open days and everything else aren’t going to be the same anymore without you three on board.

You guys are the definition of teamwork, effort, and hard work – and I am super inspired your work.

Good luck to whoever is taking on their events and program now, because T&O’s shoes are irreplaceable. Have fun living up to their reputation.

On behalf of all the students here at Melb, I wish you guys all the best!

I know!! It was such an amazing page :(

But from what I’ve been told, someone else will be taking over. Fingers crossed they can keep up the good work left behind by Roy!

Hey Daphane, I’ve only just read your lovely comments, months after you wrote them. Thankyou so much, it means a lot to hear it, and it’s students like you who made my job a real joy :) And don’t worry, I’m sure the volunteering opportunities will still be there.

[…] And as soon as I touched down in Melbourne, it was straight into helping out at academic advice day & hosting for the mid year orientation. It was a very different atmosphere hosting this time round (Bring back T&O!!). […]
