Daphane’s take on flashcards

Flashy flashcards

Flashcards may not work for everyone, but for me – Flashcards are amazing! I’ve rediscovered them this semester, and this is mainly how I’ve been studying.

But I found it really hard and annoying trying to keep my flashcards in order, and if you drop them…well, you’re pretty much stuffed. And you can always download an online flashcard apps. But I’m old school, I need my notes in hard copy.

So I’ve come up with a way to fix this! It’s a really simple process. Here is my take on the flashcard-business.

Tools of the trade

– Hole puncher

– Metal rings (go to DAISO, the japanese $2.80 store on the corner of Bourke St/Swanston St. Officework sells them at a ridiculous price – don’t go there for these)

– Flashcards (can be purchased from Co-op bookshop on campus/officeworks/big w etc.)

Show me how it’s done

What I do, is I get the massive 5 colour pack of flashcard from the Co-op Bookshop. I use each colour for different subjects (so pink for Australian Wildlife Biology, blue for Marine Environments etc.).

Then use my trusty hole-puncher…

Put the rings on

And you’re done!

What to do with your awesome flashcards now?

Here is how I use my flashcards. I would generally make up questions from the lecture material, and base my flashcards on these questions.

I would test myself first before flipping the card over to see the answers.

Flashcards are super convenient when you want to study on the go. And the rings make it easy for you to flip the cards over, and you can always insert more, and play around with the order.

Tip: Put your contact details on your cards just in case you lose them!

Anyways. I just thought I would share one of my study tips with you all!

  1. So cute !! I used to do this for VCE economics and loved it. Except my mind started memorising the sequence of the cards lol so I had to reshuffle the cards every other day :P
